synchronised swimmers

Hythe Aqua Synchro section is enjoying a period of expansion following the successful launch of a new course held recently at Hythe Pool. The aptly named “Ariel Aquafun” programme, based on the theme of Disney’s The Little Mermaid provides an introduction to the sport of synchronised swimming with the emphasis on fun.

Head Coach, Natalie Goodson says “We are fully supportive of the “Ariel Aquafun” initiative as a means of attracting swimmers as young as 6 years old into the sport and we were delighted with the response. Many of the swimmers were so keen to continue with us that we have now set up a follow-on programme working towards the Synchro preliminary grades badges.”

The sport of synchronised swimming is growing in popularity due to an increased awareness of the many strenuous and technical skills required to perform a good Synchro routine including; speed, strength, flexibility, and exceptional breath control. Hythe Aqua is currently the only club in Shepway to offer a Synchro Section. If you are aged 6 – 10 and interested in giving Synchro a try, call Pat Parris on 01303 267384 for more information and check out www.hytheaqua.org.uk.
