Reading Novice Synchronised Swimming Competition June 12th 2010

Four young swimmers from Hythe Aqua’s synchronised swimming section travelled up to Reading on a very sunny Saturday to take part in the Reading Novice Synchronised swimming competition.  Lara Porteos, Olivia Morcom, Chanelle Champion and Mia Ilic represented Hythe to compete against 230 swimmers from all around the country.

In the novice figure section the girls performed their figures with excellent control with Lara Porteos achieving 12th, Olivia Morcom 23rd, Chanelle Champion 30th out of 65 swimmers.  In the Skill 1 figure section Mia Ilic showed good potential in her figures taking 13th place out of 32 swimmers.

Porteos, Morcom, Champion and Ilic then united to swim as a team in the routine section of the competition. There were 10 clubs competing in the competition, including some of the biggest clubs in the Country such as Rushmoor, Reading, City of Birmingham and Portsmouth.  The girls swam their new routine, cleverly choreographed by senior Hythe Aqua swimmer Jessica Neilson, for the very first time in a competition.  They swam with excellent execution and poise to claim the 5th place position.
