British Masters Long Course Championships 2011

David Staveley

“For the first time in a few years Hythe Aqua were represented at the British Masters Long Course Masters Swimming Championships which were held recently in Leeds. Due to the lack of long course (50m) pool facilities in the south east, it is difficult for Hythe Aqua Masters swimmers to obtain long course training, so David Staveley was the sole representative at this year’s British Long Course Championships.  David Staveley, competed with some success. Although swimming at the upper end of his 65 – 69 year age group, David came second in the 100 metre Breaststroke and third in the 200 metre backstroke.

Next year’s Championships are scheduled to take place at the much closer venue of Crystal Palace and it is to be hoped that many more Hythe Aqua Masters will be participating.
