Speedo League Round One Report Burgess Hill 2007 |

The Hythe swimmers travelled away to Burgess Hill for the First of three rounds of the National Speedo League. After a tough few months with only the New Beach swimming pool for training sessions. Due to new rule changes all the relays had increased from 25m relay’s to 50m relays so making it a lot tougher for the younger members of the team, also the open IM had changed from 100m to 200m. The evening started well with the open IM swimmers both finishing in 2nd place, then came the swimmers of the evening the Girls 11/u Relay team (Beth Warren, Sophie Newington, Evie Burton, Jodie Cowie) who won both there relays in impressive style. |
A special mention goes to Olly Bray who travelled back from Grantham College to swim for us and in doing so broke the 16/u Breaststroke Club Record in a time of 1.11.11, Congratulations. Thank you also to Ashley Newman, Jenny Newman and Georgina Smith who travelled back from uni to swim for us. Although only having one swimmer in the boy’s 15/u age group and having to call upon our younger swimmers to fill in the spaces for the relays and two of the individuals, we still managed to come FOURTH overall which was an excellent start to the season considering the last few months lack of training for some. WELL DONE EVERYONE ! 2nd Places |
