Hythe Aqua swimmers kept temperatures high with sizzling performances at the White Cliffs Open Meet at Dover recently. The Hythe swimmers dominated the finals with solid performances from all swimmers, which saw Hythe finishing 2nd overall in the Men’s and Woman’s events and 3rd in the relay competition.

Stars of the meet were James Hulbert, Natalie Wyborn and Josh Hill. James made four finals in the 11/12yrs age group achieving 1st in breast, 2nd in Free and IM and 3rd in the back. Josh Hill was 15yrs champion in Fly and IM and a close 2nd in Free. Natalie had an excellent meet with 2nd in 10yrs Back, 3rd in Free and 6th in Fly. She was unlucky to win the Breast in a speeding ticket time so was denied the trophy and a speeding ticket also excluded her from the IM final.

Up and coming young swimmer Abby West showed her potential by  getting 3rd in the 10yr Breast, 1st in 9rs Breast and 3rd places in the Fly, Free and IM. Other firsts came from Jodie Cowie11/12 Fly. Shanelle Fakley and Aaron Bentley were both 1st in their races but denied the trophy-Aaron’s excellent PB got him a speeding ticket whilst Shanelle was judged  2nd despite the crowd and announcer seeing her touch first.

Final placings were gained by the following swimmers: 9yrs Luke Archer 3rd in Free and Back

10yrs: Tommy Evans 2nd Free and 3rd Fly, John West 3rd Back, Isobel Adams 4th IM, Free and Medley Relay team (J.West, T.Evans, A.West, N. Wyborn)

11/12Yrs:  Luke Riley 3rd Fly, Sam Hindess 3rd Breast, 5th Back, James Bray 4th Breast, Free Relay team(J. Hulbert, L.Riley, J.Saunders, M.Fell) 4th

13/14Yrs: Charlie Smissen 3rd Free 4th IM, Barnabus Webborn 2nd Back,  4th Free, Aaron Bentley 5th Back, Ben Walker 3rd Breast, Margaux Durand 2nd Free 6th Back, Sophie Newington 2nd Back, 3rd Breast, 6th Fly,  Katie Levitt 6th Breast, Freestyle Team ( C.Smissen, B. Webborn, M. Durand, E.Burton) 2nd, Medley Team ( C.Smissen, B.Walker, M.Durand, E. Burton) 3rd

15/16 Yrs: E. Barnes 2nd Breast, 3rd back 5th Fly and Free, S.Durand 2nd back, 3rd Im, 4th Fly, 5th Breast, Hayley Newman 3rd Back, 6th Fly,  Aimee riley 3rd Free, L.Bull 4th Free Medley and Free Relay teams (E.Barnes, J.Hill, A.Riley, L.Bull).

Hythe had 4 Skins Finalists competing for the top prize of £15. Sarah Durand won £10 whilst Josh Hill and James Hulbert each won £5. Isobel Adams and Charlie Smissen finished 4th just out of the money.  Overall it was a very successful weekend for Hythe Aqua. Thanks to all the swimmers and parents who helped officiate at the meet on Hythe’s behalf.
