Olympic Swimmer Inspires Hythe Hopefuls
Aquateers
As part of our swimmer’s development Chris Cook; 100m breastroke Olympic finalist and Commonwealth Gold medallist coached Hythe Aqua’s squad in September.
A superb turnout from our intermediates and both squads, (aged from 6 to 19), enjoyed and appreciated a master class in breastroke swimming from Chris.
As the first British swimmer to swim 100m Brs in under 1min he is well qualified.
Techniques, training hints and a bit of racing all seemed to focus Hythe Aqua’s swimmers. They even remembered to swim for 51m NOT 50 – great advice when racing.
From the pool it was off to the Hythe Pavilion for an inspirational talk by Chris on motivation, having dreams, not making excuses and remembering to enjoy what you do. He targeted this on sport and life. Nobody left without a little bit of that gold medal rubbed off on them.
A big thanks to the swimmers that raised money to make this possible, Ben Walker, Jessica Saunders, Lizzy burridge, Hayley Newman and James Hulbert.
