KENT JUNIOR LEAGUE Round 2 - 11th September 2010

With a weakened team it was going to be a tough job to emulate our first round position of 2nd place. It turned out to be a rollercoaster ride with Hythe going from 5th to 3rd plunging to 5th  but with a strong last 10 events, we finishing in 3rd, just ahead of local rivals Folkestone. Hythe Aqua are now 2nd in the league overall going into round 3 later in the year.  However,  Gravesend and Northfleet will be hard to catch on their performances so far and Southwark Aquatics are proving to be the dark horse of the competition.
Bryony Adams

Star of the evening was Saul Owen who convincingly won his 3 individuals (10/U 50m Free and Back and 11/U Back) whilst Bryony Adams was not going to be out swum also winning her 10/u 50m Free and Back races. However, it was the solid performance of 2nd and 3rd places that helped push up our points overall. Praise must go to James Hulbert who was 2nd in both the 13/u 100m Breast and Free with PBs, Jess Saunders (2nd 13/U Fly PB and 3rd 13/u Back), Grace Walker ( 2nd 12/U 100m Free and 3rd 12/U Fly). Other 2nd places came from Abbey West 11/U Fly, Charles Watson 12/U Free, Girls 12/U Free Relay( G. Walker, E.Burch, G.Archer, N.Wyborn) and the Girls 10/U  Medley Relay( E. Godfrey, A. Cufley, B. Adams, A.Collins)

Thanks to all the swimmers who did events they would not normally do to fill races. Special mention to Ellie Burch who despite still nursing an injury  swam brilliant relay legs to keep Hythe  in with a chance and Abraham Brown and Josh Tyrrell who got the dreaded 100m Fly races but swam their hearts out to get points and PBs as well.

Thanks to Hythe poolside staff for their motivation and enthusiasm and the parents behind us in the balcony who’s cheering was so loud that at times the swimmers could  not hear me speaking!!
