Margate Open – 6th June 2010
 

19 swimmers from Hythe Aqua took part in the Margate Open swimming event and all the swimmers had a very enjoyable and successful day with many Hythe medallists and finalists. The Margate Open is a well supported and oversubscribed event so the competition was always going to be tough but the competition did not phase the Hythe swimmers who swam exceptionally well recording 43 personal best times!

Special mention goes to Natalie Wyborn who won the 11yrs Breaststroke closely followed by her team mate Grace Walker who came 2nd whilst Isabel Adams narrowly missed out on the Hythe Aqua hat trick by finishing 5th,

Margate Open – 6th June 2010
Max Hulbert made the finals for all four disciplines, coming 2nd in the butterfly, 3rd Backstroke 4th Breastroke and 6th in the Freestyle. The Walker Family of Ben and Grace also made all their finals with Grace getting 2nd in Breastroke, Backstroke and Freestyle and 3rd in the Butterfly, whilst Ben was 2nd in the Breastroke and 6th in Butterfly, Backstroke and Freestyle. Abby West was on top form in the 10 years Breastroke, swimming a very close race, which came down to wire, with the touch judge awarding her with 2nd place.   James Hulbert was 2nd in the 13yrs Breastroke just beaten by an outsider. James also got a pleasing 3rd in the Backstroke and 5th in the Freestyle.

Other finalists were Natalie Wyborn 6th 11yrs Backstroke, John West 5th 11yrs Backstroke, Gemma Archer 6th 12yrs Butterfly and Esther Evans 6th in 13yrs Breastroke.

However every swimmer produced good performances and achieved some excellent Personal Best times and several swimmers were reserve finalists. So well done to the following: Alice Carter, Luke Archer, Thomas Fox, Bryony Adams, Alana Collins, Saul Owen, Jack Waghorne, Amanda Cufley and Emma Godfrey.
