Hythe Aqua produced some excellent results at the recent East Kent Swimming Championships held in Canterbury.  Hythe had a total of 38 swimmers that achieved the necessary qualifying times needed to take part in the championships.  The event attracts the top clubs from the East Kent area and always provides excellent swimming competition across all strokes including relays.
Abbey West
 
Thirty six of the Hythe swimmers achieved new personal best times at the competition with 28 medal winning places. For many of the young swimmers this was their first taste of competition at this level after being promoted from Hythe Aqua’s nationally accredited learn to swim programme. 
 
Ben & Phoebe
Top swimmer at the championships was 15 year old Ben Walker who qualified for 9 events and achieved medal placings in 7 events. Top points scoring girl was Phoebe Barret who competed in  five events in the 9/10yrs age group and achieved medals in four events, just missing gold in the 50 metres backstroke. In the 9/10 years age group Abbey West was East Kent champion in the 50 metres Breaststroke in a time of 43.51 and also achieved 4th place in the 200m breaststroke.
 

Saul Owen swimming in the 9/10 years age group achieved 4th place in the 50 metres backstroke and an excellent 2nd place in the 100m IM, swimming a huge new personal best time. Max Hulbert had an excellent championships with 6th places in the 50m Back & Free, 5th places in the 50m Breast, 50m Butterfly and 200m Freestyle and two excellent 4th places in the 200m Breast and 100m IM.

Barnabus Webborn swam a hotly contested 50m backstroke to achieve 5th place and followed it with a 6th place in the 200m Backstroke in the 15years age group.  Daniel Burch achieved five 5th places in finals in the 200m backstroke, 200m butterfly, 200m breaststroke, 50m Butterfly and 100m Butterfly in the 15years age group.

Jess Saunders swam a brilliant 200m Butterfly to achieve 4th place in the 13/14years age group, whilst Freya Coughlan swam a huge new personal best to take 6th place.

Grace Walker swam excellently throughout the championships, swimming in twelve events and  achieving three 6th places, one 5th and one 4th places. In all the rest of her races she achieved top ten placings. Grace was the highest nationally ranked Hythe swimmer at the championships.
